As I said in my post yesterday a visit to patagonia and hiking Torres Del Paine W Circuit has been pretty high on my list for awhile. It is called the Torres Del Paine W because the hike looks like this:
I decided to do the Torres Del Paine W from east-west, so on my first day I carried myself on a glute burning 3 hour pure-incline up to Mirador Torres Del Paine.
Mirador means “lookout” or “viewpoint” and this one is a stunner…. but also a stunner of a climb. From the W-Circuit trailhead to Mirador Torres Del Paine it is 5.6 miles straight up hill.
The half-way point is Refugio El Chileno, where hopefully you are staying the night and can drop your pack, so after ascending to Mirador Torres Del Paine, you only have to descend half way down.
El Chileno Refugio is owned by Fantastico Sur. It offers a refugio with 8-man sleeping rooms, campsites, (tent, sleeping bag, platform, mat rental), hot showers, breakfast, lunch and dinner, a bar, a small camp-store and NO Wi-Fi, so you can Desfruta Del Mundo Real… enjoy the real world <3
I left my first day after visiting Mirador Torres Del Paine thinking if this is day one of the Torres Del Paine W, how could the rest of my days ever measure up as it had already been so glorious…
