Viña del Mar, or Chile’s Vineyard of the Sea, is a city about two hours drive west of Santiago on the central Pacific Coast.
Viña del Mar is also known as the garden city as there are many parks and green spaces around the city. Here is the flower clock at Plaza del Reloj / Parque Reloj de Flores:
The long stretches of white sandy beaches are gorgeous in Viña del Mar and I could see why they are a major attraction for national and international tourists.
While in Chile, we of course had to try Lomito Sandwiches…
A lomito sandwich is the biggest sandwich I have EVER eaten. It is filled with thinly sliced pork that has been braised for hours in a seasoned broth and then browned on the grill. It is layered onto a large slightly sweet soft white roll, topped with tomatoes, smashed avocado and copious amounts of mayonnaise. It’s pretty much the National dish of Chile and its muy delicioso!
And of course, keeping up with my tradition… some national beers as well
While in Viña del Mar, we stayed at the Enjoy Del Mar Resort which consists of both a casino and hotel with absolutely beautiful views of the Pacific. This was shot from my room the balcony of my one night…
Viña del Mar is a nice relaxing destination, perfect for a weekend getaway out of Santiago and you could even hit up some of the great wine estates that line the road between Santiago and Viña del Mar along the way
